Seaborn Beck Weathers is an American pathologist, born December 16, 1946, in Dallas, Texas. A survivor of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster, he was left for dead on the mountain after a blizzard struck, then emerged from a hypothermic coma and walked alone to Camp IV, an ordeal that cost him his right hand, the fingers of his left hand, parts of both feet, and his nose, which was surgically reconstructed. He recounted the experience, along with the personal and family reckoning that followed, in his memoir Left for Dead: My Journey Home from Everest (2000). He continued to practice pathology and lives in Dallas.
