Samuel R. Delany is an American author and literary critic whose work spans science fiction, memoir, and criticism, including the novels Babel-17 and The Einstein Intersection (both Nebula Award winners) and Dhalgren (1975). He has taught English, comparative literature, and creative writing at universities including SUNY Buffalo, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Temple University. He has won four Nebula Awards and two Hugo Awards, was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame in 2002, and was named an SFWA Grand Master in 2013.
