Description
This a circulating collection of previously published books, assembled by the New Hampshire State Library. It is part of a series of "Peace packs," each one on a different theme, intended to facilitate social and emotional learning, and part of a series of three Peace packs intended to help children deal with grief. It consists of 11 children's books on dealing with grief, loss, and death, along with a book for older readers on grief, "On grief and grieving" by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross & David Kessler. An accompanying "Family materials" guide includes a discussion guide, activities, acts of kindness, and list of community helpers. Four of the children's books also include book discussion guides issued by The Healing Library on laminated sheets. Three of the children's books include book guides that were published as part of the book. This collection is a modified version of a kit that was originally issued by The Healing Library on "The death of a loved one." It includes additional children's books from those issued with this kit, as well as "On grief and grieving," which was not not originally part of this kit and a different version of the accompanying guide. It is stored in a clear, zippered plastic bag with blue handles and includes a laminated checklist to the materials in the collection.
