Description
Tempest and the Twilight Company are now respected venturers. They stumble across several invasions of Rathos: the tentacled Daeklor; Tharakhi’s old demon master and his infernal legions; and Snikki’s goblin people and their spider-like goddess, the Widow of the Tombs. Each force desires Rathos’s magical power—and like a hungry ogre, they don’t share. Calling upon allies new and old, Tempest hones his skills and prepares a skyship to fend off the invaders—but each force exhibits abilities he and his friends can’t counter. He must travel Rathos in search of ingredients or artifacts to help defeat their foes—while still struggling with a thirst for power. That temptation grows once the Twilight Company acquires gems that allow them to summon their own monsters. In doing so, they risk becoming like the wizards who exploit them. Each member of the Twilight Company must decide if they’ll use that power for good—or become monsters themselves.
