Halfway Through the 20's - 80 Favorite Albums
We're officially past the midpoint of the decade. Here is some of my favorite music so far, loosely ranked. Honestly, anything after 10-15 is a shot in the dark at best.

Slave to the Scalpel200 Stab WoundsI can't tell you why I love this album so much. They aren't reinventing anything. Their gimmick isn't even clever. But I'll be damned if they don't write the catchiest riffs I've ever fucking heard. It is impossible for me to put this down once I start it. Don't ask me to justify it in any measurable way. It's just pure unbridled fun. - 9
After HoursThe WeekndLove him or hate him, you have to respect the hustle. The Weeknd is one of our generation's most successful pop/r&b artists. I don't think it's a mistake that this album took the world over the way it did. It is undoubtedly his best since the original "trilogy" and in my estimation, just straight up his best work. - 8
Cheat CodesBlack ThoughtI contend that this is not only an underrated album, but one that will be considered a classic when we look back on it. In typical fashion, Black Thought releases top-tier quality music that is criminally overlooked and underappreciated by the general populace. - 7

Absolute ElsewhereBlood IncantationWhat can I say about this that everybody else already hasn't? It is a massive achievement in progressive death metal, and it is impossible to put down once you start it. - 5
Children of the MoonState FaultsThis is the best screamo album I've heard since Gospel's "The Moon Is a Dead World" - and I'm pretty sure it's taking a lot of influence from it. Bodega Head is one of the best closers on any album I've ever heard. That song had me in a chokehold for about 6 months straight. - 4
Lonely People With PowerDeafheavenIt's been over a decade since Sunbather, and it's a safe assumption that no one ever expected them to top it. I think that LPWP at the very least achieves parity with Sunbather, and honestly this might creep into being my favorite Deafheaven album. - 3
RadicalEvery Time I DieHonestly this might as well be tied for #2. I don't think there's ever been a better "final" album. Admittedly no one, not even ETiD, knew it would be their last, but this really does show them at the peak of their game. This has some of their angriest and also some of their most melodic work. Every track is a banger and the pacing is perfect. - 2
OthernessAlexisonfireThis caught me by surprise. Crisis was a hard album to top, but this grew on me more with every listen. Eventually I couldn't stop listening. I think this is their magnum opus. Dripping with texture and emotion, the production and songwriting are immaculate. - 1
…And Again Into the LightPanopticonIt's hard not to have this as #1. This has become my favorite album from my favorite Black Metal artist. Dead Loons, Rope Burn Exit, and Know Hope are all-timers.

Sick list @electricsheep! I'm going to work on one at some point, but there's a ton here I want to revisit, and more than several that I need to just, um, visit. I have a feeling there will be a lot of cross over too. Love the write ups for the top 10 as well.
Thanks @BlakeAM! Out of curiosity, how much of this haven't you heard? I know that much of the list is stuff you've rec'd me
Its mostly the non-heavy stuff - primarily pop and folk, but a couple of hip hop and rock records I haven't heard. I think I counted like 15 or so total
Knowing the kinds of things that might be out of your scope, I'd rec Connla’s WellAlbum
Oblivious of most of the non-metal picks, shall check!

Gonna make a playlist and jam this entire list. Cult of Luna and Panopticon got me 🙌🏻
@KimmuXix what about Ulcerate?
I will listen and let you know 🙃
