Overview
Claire Denis juxtaposes Michel Subor’s mirror gesture in Jean-Luc Godard’s Le Petit Soldat (1960) with its reprise nearly forty years later in Beau Travail (1999). Through rapid montage, the short reflects on time, memory, identity, and the passage of cinema history, while paying tribute to Godard.
