This was bleak. Like even for a McCarthy novel. You want to sit in the sun, hold a loved one while you read this.

Blood MeridianBook still holds as his bleakest, I think, but this one is no slouch.
Maybe but one of my biggest fears as a child was surviving in a post-apocalyptic world. So this hits close to home.
