Another great DLC

A two‑part DLC would irritate me were it not for the sheer amount of fun it delivers.

You jump straight back into Daud’s story. He has solved the mystery of Delilah’s identity, but her motives remain a blackout. Burdened by regret, Daud must track her down and stop whatever she is planning.

The structure mirrors the first expansion: three missions, each roughly the size and complexity of a typical Dishonored level. One mission revisits a familiar location while the other two take you to completely new areas.

As in the previous DLC, you can spend money before a mission to gain a tactical edge—extra runes, additional supplies, or a special purchase. In this case, the purchase lets you dress as an Overseer and slip into Coldridge Prison, the very penitentiary Corvo escaped from. The disguise grants near‑unrestricted access, allowing players to explore most of the prison without constant harassment.

The second level draws clear inspiration from Scorsese’s Gangs of New York. It presents one of the series’ most compelling moral dilemmas: you must choose between two equally awful options, with no clever loophole to soften the impact of your decision.

This mission introduces a new enemy type—Witches—which were hinted at in the original Knife of Dunwall. They wield ranged attacks, can blink, and possess a scream that deals damage and pushes you back. Though frustrating to fight, their design and narrative integration are a delight. Observant players will spot them perched on rooftops, spying on Daud. While most characters fear them, Daud treats witches with a strange familiarity—perhaps because his mother was a witch in canon, or because of his own supernatural abilities.

The final level takes place in the sprawling Brigmore Manor, one of my personal favorites in the series. The manor is massive, offering numerous routes to explore and strategies to get in and deal with Delilah. Its decaying, water‑soaked halls are populated by witches that can quickly overwhelm an unwary player, making careful planning essential.

As always in Dishonored, the conclusion is entirely player‑driven. Choices made throughout both DLCs feed into your overall chaos score. The outcome of Daud’s eventual confrontation with Corvo depends on those decisions; a low‑chaos playthrough can even spare Daud.

Brigmore Witches I wraps up Daud’s arc and adds fresh mechanics and narrative layers to the Dishonored universe. While it doesn’t quite reach the high point of the first expansion, it serves as a worthy and satisfying final chapter for the inaugural game.
