The Fench Connection, Heat, Bullitt, Dirty Hairy....HAWK JONES
I was merely a child when I first found this movie in the local video store. I would rent this film once a week. My parents would try to talk me out of it but it was too no avail.
Hawk Jones is the story steeped in the 80's tradition of buddy cop films. Hawk, the toughest cop on the force, is teamed up with a new partner, McAllister, and worst yet a woman to boot. Hawk and McAllister are out to stop mob boss Antonio Copolla and his crime wave. Hawk is beset on all sides by henchmen, assassins and the struggles of being the best cop on the force.
The score is pure magic, nothing but 80s synthwave/jazz. The cinematography has that classic 80s grain. The action and stunts are genre redefining. The movie stand shoulder to shoulder with the very best of the decade.
Also, every actor, every single one, from Hawk himself, to his grizzled police chief, Copolla, the assassins and henchmen, to the nightclub patrons...
All of them. Every single one is played by a child.
This is an amazing film. No notes.
Argue wit ya momma.
