Released about 112 days after Mass Effect 3, this is a clear correction of how Mass Effect 3 concluded. The idea that a game’s ending was so universally disliked that a company moved to correct it in less than four months is incredible, but does it work?

If you were hoping for a complete and total rework of the ending, then no. But if you could be satisfied with some clarification by way of motion comics and voice‑overs, then yes.

The original ending made it seem like the galaxy was broken beyond repair. The Mass Relay network was gone, and so everyone, everywhere was stranded and separated on a scale that was impossible to overcome. With the additions and explanations you see that there is a future closer to what we knew. We see our favorite characters again and see how the conflicts we resolved really played out. The ending is decidedly less bleak, as we learn that Shepard's actions did have meaning, the characters we loved may have survived and there is much more closure in general.

It is not perfect, but it was a start of making things right. It was also free, so it does feel like an apology, and I accepted it.
