Another horror banger from the indie dev world

Just finished this and wanted to write a quick review. Nothing too crazy but it felt like this deserved more than a quip.
For a little bit of background, Silver Pines is a game that game up on my radar very last minute right before the release. Up until 2 days before launch. I thought the idea was interesting so I decided to look further into it. Now, I am not normally a fan of 2D side scroller style games (other than a good platformer). Not that they are inherently bad but never really grabbed me. It had been awhile since I played one however and I decided to take a gamble on this game because the idea intrigued me enough. Private Investigator enters a town where something paranormal slowly unfolds. I am a simple man.
I am glad I took the gamble. Taking about 10 hours to complete, Silver Pines is a well thought out and narrated horror thriller game that made me want to give 2D games more chances. The map is well down and feels so big. The story is really well written and drip feeds the mystery slowly throughout the story. One thing that this game does that more games need to do, is it respects your intelligence. The map, despite being 2D, has so many different ways to traverse it. There were so many times where I would see a secret slightly off the main path and think "Man how do I get to that?" And low and behold, I literally could just hop the railing blocking me from getting there. The game lets you think for yourself without being overly difficult.
If you have the time and are looking for a short mystery narrative too sink your teeth into, I recommend Silver Pines.
And all of this for just $25?? Incredible steal.
