Wow. This…this sucked. Is it unwatchable? No. They do fulfill a couple of promises from the X‑Men canon: we see the Danger Room and a Sentinel. But…
In the previous movie, they had Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler. I could forgive that, after some rumination. But then they kill Cyclops off‑screen because James Marsden wanted to be in Superman Returns.
Bruh.
This movie is a mess from top to bottom: a bland and forgettable hash of more famous X-men stories. This movie is held together by studio notes from a producer who skimmed some X-men comics over someone's shoulder on a subway.
It feels like it was created not out of vision or inspiration, but purely to meet contractual obligations and the most immature of fan expectations. I am not so naive to think that even good movies are the product of a heartless studio system but this movie missed the mark by a mile.
Also, they clearly did reshoots to incorporate a joke that was stale moments after the movie premiered.
Rarely do I hate a movie the moment I step out of the theaters but X-Men: The Last Stand was bad.
