HaMisrad

Overview

HaMisrad is an Israeli television sitcom that aired on the Yes Comedy channel. It is an adaptation of the British sitcom The Office. The series is a mockumentary set in a branch of the fictional Paper Office, an office-supplies company in the industrial city of Yehud. Dvir Benedek stars as Avi Meshulam, the branch’s regional manager, a character heavily based on David Brent from the original series. It was co-produced by Yes and July August Productions. Like The Office, HaMisrad satirizes workplace culture, gender, and ethnic relations. Its diverse workplace includes secular Jews, Arabs, Orthodox Jews, and Russian and Ethiopian immigrants. The first season aired from August to November 2010 and largely adapted the 12 episodes of the British series, with early episodes closely following the original plots and dialogue. Later episodes became increasingly original. A second season aired in late 2012 and early 2013 and featured entirely original storylines.
