Seasons
Occasional documentary series charting the progress of a group of children in 21st century Britain. Seven years ago, 7 Up 2000 introduced viewers to a group of seven-year-olds from various backgrounds and attempted to build a portrait of their lives at the turn of the millennium. Now the production team has returned to these children as they reach 14 to see where their lives have taken them so far. How have they changed? Will their Britain seem different now seen through the eyes of teenagers?
In the year 2000, as a new century opened, the documentary 7 Up 2000 was broadcast on BBC1. Following in the footsteps of 7 Up, the award-winning and highly acclaimed World In Action documentary that started in 1964, 7 Up 2000 began a fresh journey with a new generation of children, each one aged seven in the year 2000. The programme featured children from all over the UK, from hugely varied backgrounds, all with very different personalities and interests. We filmed each child at school and play, to try to build a true portrait of their lives and get a glimpse of their Britain at the beginning of a new millennium. Seven years on, the same production team returned to these children as they reached 14, to see how they had changed. Now, in 2014, we've been back to them again as they approach the milestone of their 21st birthdays. Where will their lives have taken them now?
One of the BBC’s most ambitious documentary projects returns for its fourth installment. Over 20 years in the making, and made by the same production team throughout, 28 Up Millennium Generation has followed the lives - every seven years - of a group of people with very different backgrounds from all over the UK. All aged seven at the turn of the century, when the first film was made, they have now reached the age of 28.
