Blander than CBS
Packed with all the thrills, sex, espionage, and government intrigue of a CBS made for TV film. Something uncomplicated, to a fault, designed carefully not to offend anyone who could sit through 90 minutes of just fine TV. Your loud uncle’s favorite movie of the year and something even he would forget after 2 weeks of telling everyone how great it was.
Deception Point was the breezy thriller almost perfectly written to distract you from plans that fell through, a rainy day, or a layover in a busy airport.
I want to be more negative but there just isn't enough here to hate. This is a paint by numbers thriller centered about possible proof of alien life. Unremarkable characters, with the depth of a parking lot puddle, race around the halls of government, the arctic circle, and an oil rig trying to expose the "truth". Predictable plotting that is safer than a kiddie ride at a theme park. Complications arise and interested parties do whatever it can to stop the truth from coming out.
I disliked this book so much I donated Digital Fortress another Dan Brown book to the local library and I have been put off by Dan Brown ever since.
