I haven't seen Dunkirk since it first came out, over five years ago now. It was one of the best theatrical experiences I've had, and instantly became one of my favorite movies. On rewatch, in the dark of my small apartment bedroom, my feelings remain the same. It is a brilliantly constructed, gorgeously shot, enthralling film.

The threat is constant. An unnamed enemy, always lurking in the darkness of the drink, or looming up above...just over the hills. Dark water fills up creaky, twisted hulls. The channel is an endless tomb. Hope and humanity — hang on, don't let them be washed away. Keep going. SURVIVE.

This might be my favorite Nolan film, but I haven't seen Memento or The Prestige, and Interstellar and Inception both deserve a rewatch.
