Great movie, Anthony Perkins absolutely kills it as Norman Bates. But holy shit, the psychiatrist scene is one of the most insulting things I've seen in a classic movie. The audience is too obtuse to understand what they've just spent the last hour and a half watching, so let's explain everything in a dreadful, drawn out fashion for like 5 minutes. I'm actually dropping it an entire ½★ on this rewatch JUST because of this scene. I love everything else about this movie: its intentional cheapness, the music, the twists and turns that are still effective today. Goddamn tho, fuck that completely unnecessary, tacked-on scene.
