yes, it is a very gross and disturbing movie

also very beautiful in its filmmaking and a powerful political statement, one that seemed to prove dangerous for Pasolini

Salò is legitimately shocking — these types of images and ideas do not lose their transgressive potency over the decades, at least not when they still ring so true today
