I have a tendency to hyperbolize, but this is likely the most depressing, brutal and bleak thing I've seen. It is staggering in its depiction of nuclear destruction, and I am shocked that this was made for TV given how graphic it is.

I loved Threads portrayal of just how helpless we are in the face of this sort of decimation. There is NO preparing for this. You can hide in your basement, put the mattress on your door, drive out to the countryside, etc. But it does not matter. The ones in power have no idea what they're doing. They just have to hope that this day never comes. If you are unfortunate enough to not be instantly vaporized or die within the first days, and you keep on "living", you will eat rats and drink filthy death water. Vomit irradiated bile. Millions of unburied corpses. A razed earth. Frozen nuclear ash falling from the dead sky. Deformed primitive rape babies.
