Recent Watches
Typically a horror nerd but the horror well has dried up pretty good. A lot of these were me just letting Tubi auto play whatever popped up first. Somehow ended up with an unintentional theme of dysfunctional families/serial killers

Always wanted to see this. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Love stuff set in psych wards

14A- No Way Home
Buddy Giovinazzo · 1997
Buddy Giovinnazo flick. His movie Combat Shock is one of my feel bad favorites. Can’t say I’d recommend it to most people (shoestring budget/very slow moving). This one is probably more likely to be enjoyed by most. Tim Roth is awesome here

Ataru Oikawa · 1998
Another rewatch. Been well over a decade since I’d first watched this and didn’t remember much about it. Wonderfully weird Junji Ito adaptation. Never got around to seeing the sequels but I’m going to try to track them down even though I’ve heard it’s essentially the same thing over and over

Pretty cool. Should probably take a break from movies that claim they curse the viewer lol

36B+ Trucks
Chris Thomson · 1997
Another King adaptation. Possibly the best movie about bloodthirsty trucks ever made, if not the best it surely has to be top 5. Even the RC trucks are OUT 4 BLOOD (there’s also hazmat suits at one point with a company patch on them that says “TIT” shits lit folks)
37A- Maximum Overdrive
Stephen King · 1986
Another King adaptation based on the same story as Trucks. Also the only movie King ever directed himself which was always wild to me that he chose this one out of all of the other adaptations that were made. Not being made for tv it has more action going on and is definitely the better of the two. Just pure dumb fun tbh. Also it’s not just bloodthirsty trucks in this one it’s machinery in general. The vending machine bit is my favorite
38A Halloween III: Season of the Witch
Tommy Lee Wallace · 1982
Movie would get a lot more love if looked at as a standalone given there’s no Myers in it. Classic
39B+ Psychic Agent: The Gate Program
Ryder Lee · 2026
Documentary about remote viewing/CIA programs that leads into government involvement in gifted student programs. I liked it but I’m also nerdy about this shit
40D Tideland
Terry Gilliam · 2005
Warped movie from the director of Fear & Loathing and 12 Monkeys. A young girl with drug addict parents ends up alone in a secluded, abandoned house. Basically a real fucked up fairytale kind of story that mostly revolves around the girl having conversations with herself via Barbie doll heads she puts on her fingers. I really liked the opening of this but it felt like it went on about an hour too long and just generally went a direction that was not for me

43B+ Hate Thyself
Shivaan Makker · 2025
Serial killer movie loosely based on the “Kansas City Butcher” Robert Berdella. I’m pretty easily satisfied when it comes to these kinds of movies and while this one wasn’t perfect it was definitely gritty and got the vibe right. I will say the dialogue is stupidly quiet. Had the tv cranked and still needed subtitles at times and at the end the subtitles were so far ahead that they were giving away what was going to happen before it did lol. Recommend to fans of the genre. Also more than likely one of Tony Todd’s (Candyman) last roles
44A+ Martyrs
Pascal Laugier · 2008
Rewatch. Saw it when it first got an American release but hadn’t revisited until now. My favorite of the French extreme movies although I love them all. This came out when the “torture porn” craze had taken over horror and while I liked some of those movies it wasn’t the greatest era. Martyrs has a depth to it that the others lacked. One of those movies that doesn’t really quite hit you until the credits roll a bit
45A Spider
David Cronenberg · 2002
A man gets out from an extended stay in an Insane asylum and moves into a halfway house. The film then follows him reliving traumatic events from his childhood as he scribbles the story into a notebook. I’ve owned the dvd of this for well over a decade and just never got around to it. Very underrated and overlooked Cronenberg movie. Definitely not for everyone. Somewhat of a slow burn and dreary as hell.

47B+ Passenger
André Øvredal · 2026
New one from the director of Autopsy of Jane Doe. A couple dedicates to the van life and get marked by a demon that’s latched onto travelers throughout time. Real jumpscare heavy which I’m not normally big on but it had some cool ideas and shots. The bit with the projector and hazards in particular were dope along with the moments leading up to the conclusion. Hoping the director will do something that hits like Jane Doe again eventually. This wasn’t quite it. Pretty fun ride though

49A- Night Patrol
Ryan Prows · 2026
Horror featuring Justin Long, Freddie Gibbs, YG, CM Punk and Flying Lotus. I’ve been rating things on IMDb as I watch them and according to IMDb I think I may be the only person that enjoyed this movie. The first review states “why was this made? Who is the target audience?”. The target audience was I, I and I alone. A mix of gang shit, horror, dirty cops, conspiracies and occult shit. Due to the general consensus I won’t recommend this to anyone because it seems like I may have bad taste. I get joy out of my bad taste though so I’m going to stick with it lol
50A Cemetery Man
Michele Soavi · 1994
Rewatch. I love this movie so much. Basically a wacked out dark comedy/romance movie with zombies thrown in. Soavi was a very underrated director from the Italian scene back then. It’s a shame he didn’t do more. Favorite moments are the hospital scene and the mental ward scene. “You looked much better the last time we talked on the phone” lol
51B+ The Guardian
William Friedkin · 1990
Folk-ish horror flick about a couple hiring a nanny that has nefarious plans for their baby. From the director of The Exorcist. This one was cool. Essentially the nanny sacrifices babies to this dope looking tree. Sam Raimi was apparently supposed to be involved in this but ended up doing Darkman instead. It probably would have fared better with his name attached. Worth a watch
52A- The Vanishing
George Sluizer · 1988
A young couple is on a road trip and the girlfriend ends up getting abducted. Three years go by and the abductor begins sending the boyfriend postcards. His obsession with uncovering the truth leads to the crumbling of his new relationship and an urge to meet the abductor for answers. This movie gets brought up frequently in “most disturbing movies” discussions. I don’t know if it really fits the bill in that regard but it did take a really interesting approach in how it handled the topic. Spoiler
53B+ Pin
Sandor Stern · 1988
Oddball psychological horror/thriller about a boy who has conversations with his father’s anatomy doll. His parents die later on and he moves the doll into the house where he lives with his sister. This one was weird but it worked for me. The director only did TV movies aside from this but he also wrote the original Amityville Horror screenplay. Always been an obscure one that rarely gets mentioned and definitely doesn’t fit in with the other genre films that were coming out at the time
54A- Ghostland
Pascal Laugier · 2018
(Incident in a Ghostland) another psychological movie. This one is extremely dark and plays out like some hellish fairytale. Also another one from the director of Martyrs. I wasn’t a fan of his English language debut The Tall Man so I stalled on checking this out. Great tension throughout and also touches on some similar themes to Martyrs. I really enjoyed this one and plan to give The Tall Man another shot soon.

I've never heard of Dead Man Walking. It being directed by Tim Robbins is interesting.
Yeah I didn’t notice he directed until I’d finished it. Looks like he did a few other things too but that was the first I’d seen. Also features a real young Jack Black
