The things that I liked about this movie, the pacing and art direction, were overshadowed by a paper thin narrative that confuses ambiguity for depth.

The backrooms works best as a creepy pasta and not in a movie where things like character, plot and story are paramount.

Backrooms displays promising chops from the newcomer.

Unfortunately the fun aesthetic and cinematography is dragged down by tired tropes, uninteresting characters, and a meandering script which lacks direction and focus.
