Transformers One
Josh Cooley
“Slept on. A gem, if you will. I will never forgive paramount for not marketing this.”
Transformers: The Last Knight
Michael Bay
“F for what they did to Anthony Hopkins but A for Stanley Tucci”
Troy
Wolfgang Petersen
“I just saw a versus battle online that pitted Aragorn (LOTR) vs Achilles and it just reminded me of how this mf moved in this movie. Interesting hypothetical aside, this movie is fantastic and I think does a really good job at depicting Achilles and the Trojan War.”
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Wes Anderson
“"Very good"”
The Dropout - Miniseries
Elizabeth Meriwether
“My wife and I watched 3 miniseries in 2022 while we planned our wedding. This was the best. The story of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos. Amanda Seyfried is amazing as Holmes. The whole story is so fascinating and this series does a good job of allowing you to witness the insanity of the entire scandal.”
Pam & Tommy - Miniseries
Robert D. Siegel
“The dramatized story of the short and wild marriage of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee that ended with the release of the infamous sex tape. Another miniseries my wife and I watched while we weren't wedding planning. What's fascinating here is that this doesn't shy away from the different ways this impacted Pamela and Tommy.”
The Offer - Miniseries
Michael Tolkin
“Clearly dramatized and exaggerated story of how The Godfather came to be. I think I liked this so much because the history of Hollywood and the people who created it is fascinating. Matthew Goode is excellent as Robert Evans as well.”
Silo - Season 1
Graham Yost
“This is easily one of the best shows I've watched. I highly recommend.”
Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat
Westwood Studios
“Ahh, grog”
Cult of the Dead Cow
Joseph Menn
“Maybe I’ve read too many books about hacking. Well researched but not well written or told.”
What's Up, Doc?
Peter Bogdanovich
“Judy: I can't see! Howard: There's nothing to see really, we're inside a Chinese dragon.”
Space: Above and Beyond - Season 1
Glen Morgan
“When I was 9 this blew my mind. I had the tie-in books, comics and never missed an episode. Upon rewatches as an adult this show was before its time, by a decade or better. And that doomed it. Easily comparable to the best of Battlestar Galactica in the mid-2000s. If I had infinite money I would reboot this show.”
Firefly - Season 1
Joss Whedon
“I was there, on the first run. I did my best to watch it but when it was moved to different time slots I wasn't too pressed. Look. This is a good TV show elevated to perceived greatness by the Wheadon sycophants and sweaty nerds. Of all the canceled properties on Fox I think this has the most potential.”
Rocketman
Dexter Fletcher
“I am not a huge fan of biopics but this was good. Just enough magical realism to make it fun.”
Saturday Night
Jason Reitman
“An enjoyable origin story.”
Street Fighter
Steven E. de Souza
“The only one who wasn't having fun with this terrible movie is Jean-Claude Van Damme. Everyone knows its horrible and does what they can to make it entertaining and no one is having more fun than Raul Julia. Eight year old me didn't have a hard time looking at Ming-Na Wen either. Fits right inside the 'so bad its fun' category.”
Wardogs
Bulkhead
“Played a few hours of the closed/open beta and actually had a good time. Gameplay loop is fun and original for a saturated market. The gunplay feels really good and honestly the community was pretty nice and everyone seemed like they were all having fun. Might be worth the pick up when it drops this week.”
MultiVersus
Player First Games
“I felt like this game deserved a little better”
Visage
SadSquare Studio
“Still haven't beaten this game cause I am too terrified”
Call of Duty: WWII
Sledgehammer Games
“Not as good as World at War but I thought this was a good revisit to that era by CoD”
The Evil Within 2
Tango Gameworks
“I think this is an underrated horror game more people should check out. It helped me get into the whole Silent Hill and Resident Evil franchise”
Pokémon Go
Niantic Labs
“This game got people to actually go outside and touch grass. Incredible”
That XCOM Baby!
XCOM: Enemy Unknown · Firaxis Games
A fun game made fair by never playing favorites.
